Borey Advanced — Causes of Failures in SMT Pick-and-Place Machines

2024-04-23

1. Poor component quality. Quality issues with components—such as inaccurate dimensions, shapes, or pin placements—lead to problems during processes like feeding, positioning, and adhesive application.

2. Improper maintenance and upkeep. SMT pick-and-place machines require regular cleaning and maintenance. Failure to promptly clean or replace worn components can lead to issues such as the placement head getting stuck or worn out, as well as causing electrical malfunctions in the machine.

3. Improper handling. If operators are inexperienced or perform tasks incorrectly—such as selecting the wrong components, using inappropriate soldering temperatures, or applying adhesive too quickly—they may also trigger failure issues.

4. Issues with the optical positioning system. The optical positioning system of an SMT pick-and-place machine is a critical component—any problems with the system or inaccurate calibration can lead to improper placement of components.

5. External Interference: SMT placement machines have relatively high environmental requirements—factors such as temperature, humidity, and electrical interference can significantly impact the machine's stable operation if the environment is unstable or subject to substantial external disturbances.
